The primary attraction of a beach holiday on the North Coast is the peacefulness of being tucked away in a secluded cottage with just family and/or friends. However, there may be times when you would like to venture out and find other activities to do (if so, check out our Activities or Entertainmentpages). One such activity could be scuba diving, our recommendation being Ocean Blue Scuba, located in Umhlanga Rocks SCUBA DIVING IN UMHLANGA.
They are a certified PADI Dive Centre, offering all sorts of recognised diving courses, including the Bubblemaker programme for kids.
The city of Durban also has many reefs and shipwrecks, making it a fantastic diving destination. Shallow shore entry dives are also a possibility at the harbor.
For recreational divers, there are suitable wrecks available, including the Fontao, T-Barge and the mystifying Cooper’s Wreck. For those with more technical training, there are also plenty of wrecks below 40m!
Umhlanga Rocks is just 20 minutes’ drive from King Shaka International Airport and 40 minutes from Blythedale. It’s a pleasant drive that takes you down the Sugar Coast of KwaZulu-Natal until you get to this very popular holiday destination.
For those not interested in strapping on any scuba gear, Umhlanga Rocks has a wide variety of malls, restaurants and pubs, that attract plenty of local and international visitors.
